This is the beginning of my journey into the 21st century. As I think about the 21st century skills that are needed to be successful, my journey should begin with what has had the greatest impact on success for our current and future society--technology. Therefore, I will examine 21st century technology standards to enhance learning within my classroom. On this journey, I will journal my discoveries as I research information through a variety of web tools.
There are several goals I want to set for my classroom that will enhance my students learning and connect to at least one of the National Educational Technology Standards (Nets). Currently, I would like to foster collaboration inside and outside of my classroom as well as enable my students to be creative and innovative.
Rena,
ReplyDeleteI would also like to foster collaboration in the classroom. My students seem to struggle with the concept of working together to complete an assigned task. Usually, one or two students complete the entire task while the others are watching from the sideline. I get extremely frustrated when I see this happening. They don’t seem to understand that they need to work as a group. I truly believe in order for our students be successful in the 21st century, they need to learn how to collaborate. If you have any great ideas about how to get them to work together, I would love to hear about them. :o)
Rena-I also believe collaboration can be a useful instructive tool. Students cannot only help each other with difficult concepts but they can also share thier instincts and common knowledge to help formulate solutions to difficult problems. As they say "two heads are better than one".
ReplyDeleteCollaboration can also assist with those students lacking certain problem solving skills. Whether it be helping those students lacking confidence or students who have just fallen behind in thier studies. Students reluctant to go to an individual teacher for help can also benefit from collaboration.
Student to student mentoring can can indeed be effective. Thanks for the heads up, Phillip Epaves
